Leafgro® is a superior, quality compost used extensively by the landscape industry and homeowners as a source of humus for soil improvement. Leafgro® is an outstanding example of recycling at its best. By composting leaves and grass clippings that would have normally been disposed of in a landfill, LeafGro converts organic wastes into a valuable resource.
The composting process begins in the fall of the year when leaves are collected and transferred to yard waste composting facilities where they are placed in windrows. In order to accelerate the decomposition process, the rows are turned and shredded on a regular basis. Beginning in the spring, grass clippings are added and the turning and shredding continues. After the composting process is complete, it is dried, screened and sold under the registered trade name, Leafgro®.
Planting Trees and Shrubs
Leafgro® should be used as a soil conditioner and enhancer when planting trees and shrubs. To do so, dig the hole twice the size and only as deep as the root ball of the plant. Mix well equal parts Leafgro® and existing soil. Place two inches of mix in the bottom of the hole and place the root ball in the hole. Fill the area around the root ball half way with mix and tamp firmly. Water thoroughly. Fill the remaining mix to ground level tamping firmly. The top of the root ball should be slightly above ground level to allow for settlement. Water all plants after planting.
Lawn Establishment
On bare earth, use eight bags per 100 square feet of area. Spread evenly and mix or rototill to a depth of four to six inches. Rake the area smooth, and seed or sod on top of prepared soil. Roll if possible and water.
Bed Preparation
When preparing bed areas for flowers, perennials, ground covers and vegetable gardens, use eight bags per 100 square feet of garden area. Mix to a depth of four to six inches. Leafgro® should be used when creating new beds or rejuvenating old ones.
Potting Soil
Leafgro® makes an excellent potting soil when you combine equal parts Leafgro®, vermiculite and perlite. Use this potting soil for all indoor and outdoor potting needs.
Leafgro® is available in convenient 1½ cubic foot bags and bulk by the cubic yard.

and Orgro...
Some background on these great composts...
In the beginning, the Earth replenished her own fertility through the natural decay of plant debris and other organic matter. This composting process converted organic materials into rich compost and provided beneficial microorganisms which aided in the absorption of nutrients by plant roots.
Modern gardening practices have included the removal of organic debris from our lawns and gardens as well as the over use of chemical fertilizers. These practices have disrupted nature's cycle and burdened our lawns and gardens with unproductive soils.
For more than 20 years, ComPRO® has been the compost product of choice for professional landscapers, contractors, and homeowners for topdressing turf, seeding and sodding.
Due to a variety of circumstances, the production of the original ComPRO® compost was discontinued in the spring of 1999. The over-whelming response from the public to reproduce ComPRO® especially suited for turf applications - also known as Orgro.
A special blend of yard trim compost has been prepared to reproduce the magical results once achieved through the use of the original ComPRO®. This product will improve soil structure and aeration, increase the soil's water holding capacity, microbial action and nutrient availability, loosen clay soils, and reduce nutrient run-off. This adds up to beautiful and vigorous lawns and gardens. We are confident that you will be delighted with this product.
Lawn Establishment
ComPRO® should be used as a soil conditioner and enhancer when establishing a new lawn. On bare earth, use eight bags per 100 square feet of area. Spread evenly, and mix or rototill to a depth of four to six inches. Rake the area smooth and seed or sod on top of amended soil. Roll the finished area and water the area until the new grass is established.
Lawn Renovation
ComPRO® is excellent for renovating established lawns. Dethatch and core aerate or verticut the lawn prior to top dressing. Apply three bags per 100 square turf spreading the ComPRO® lightly and evenly. Gently rake the area to filter the ComPRO® down between the grass blades. Overseed, roll if possible, and water the area until the new grass is established.
Gardens
When preparing garden area, mix eight to ten bags of ComPRO® per 100 square feet into the garden soil to a depth of four to six inches. ComPRO® should be used whenever garden soil is being prepared for planting.
ComPRO® compost is an excellent soil conditioner and enhancer for all types of soils. Please test your soil to determine your specific lime and fertilizer requirements.
Orgro
Similar to ComPRO, Orgro is regarded as a high-quality soil conditioner and turf builder and the choice for many high profile landscaping applications. Orgro is simply the original ComPRO in bulk. ComPRO is not available in bulk and Orgro is not available in bags. For small projects where bags are needed, use ComPRO in bags; for larger projects, use Orgro in Bulk!!
